Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity War film marked the tenth anniversary of Marvel Studios and its inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also the nineteenth film released by Marvel Studios in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A lot of hype from surrounds the film with the first trailer for this movie gaining more than two hundred million views in twenty-four hours, setting a new record for the most trailer views in a single day.
The official synopsis:
“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their super hero allies must willing to sacrifice it all in an attempt to defeat the power of Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.”
The marvelous cast strap their boots and put on their capes to battle the big purple Thanos and they are gonna need all the help they can get to ensure the safety of Earth. Which is probably why the cast list is incredibly long
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Chris Evans as Captain America, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Vin Diesel as Groot, Dave Batista as Drax, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Benedict Wong as Wong, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Danai Gurira as Okoye Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon, Don Cheadle as War Machine and finally Idris Elba as Heimdall
A heart-pounding and jumpy movie from start to finish that leaves audiences with more questions than answers and definitely more excitement for the next sequel. Action scenes from all previous Marvel films are put to shame when the spears start flying and Thor brings the thunder down. You’ll be at the edge of your seat cheering for our heroes as they flash their own abilities and you’ll be compelled who to cheer for when you discover more of Thanos’ universal views.
Marvel gives us the most compelling villain yet with Thanos. He firmly believes that his intentions are for the betterment of the entire universe and we get a better understanding as to why this is when we uncover his past and when he shows strong determination to achieve his goals. His purple physique can sometimes look unrealistic but I overlooked the CGI once I realised that we’re seeing an alien holding stones that can alter reality.
Spontaneous jumps from scene to scene kept me from enjoying the ongoing scene as I wanted to see more of what’s happening especially in Wakanda. Before it erupts, you’ll scream Wakanda forever! and wish that you could fight alongside of them to save their civilisation.
The relationship between Wanda and vision could have been strengthened more. I was not buying into the fact that they were lovers simply because we didn’t get to spend more time in their relationship.
There are a lot of main characters in the film and we got to see them grow and know what lead them to this moment. We have invested in them so much that when they start crashing and when they are down in the battlefield, we feel for them and wish for their survival. Patience is the name of the game for Marvel and they have managed to balance their time and take care of their properties.
Overall, Avengers: Infinity War has a strong ending that will leave you with a high level of intrigue of whats to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This move ultimately sets them apart from the comics giving writers and directors more creative freedom over future content.
It is an 8/10 for me
Great job Marvel!
