20th Century Fox released this plot summary of the film. “Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.”

While the trailer did look very reminiscent of the video game franchise, they ruined the tone of the trailer by using Kanye West’s song “I am A God”. No disrespect to Kanye but his music should not touch this property because it only diminishes its value. Tone is a very important aspect in films because it helps audiences get immersed in the film. If they actually play that track in the actual movie, it would completely break the audience’s immersion. This will make them less invested in the scene. Take the music used in Great Gatsby as an example.

Aside from the music, the trailer did look amazing. Action scenes captured the essence of the games and they nailed the look perfectly. They showed a lot of money shots in the trailer and I hope they won’t spoil the movie when they release their second trailer.

If you hated the music in the trailer, someone did a swell job of replacing the music in the trailer.
